WCNY’s TelAuc Returns for 43rd Year

A Central New York television tradition will continue starting Thursday, April 19, when TelAuc – WCNY’s Great TV Auction – returns for its 43rdconsecutive year.
The popular television auction, presented by M&T Bank, will air on WCNY channel 24.1 from 6 p.m. to midnight April 19 to 22 and April 26 to 29. From celebrity auctioneers to incredible bargains, TelAuc has become a cultural treasure in WCNY’s 19-county viewing area.
“We’re thrilled to continue the TelAuc tradition and we’re confident there will be something for everyone over the eight nights of bidding,” said Robert J. Daino, WCNY’s President and CEO. “WCNY is extremely appreciative of the support provided by donors who offer terrific merchandise – and the WCNY members who bid on it – because we rely on the proceeds from events such as TelAuc to help pay for our television programs and public outreach events.”
WCNY members will have the opportunity to bid on more than 3,000 items, including vacation getaways, greens fees at local golf courses, home and garden goods, restaurant certificates, jewelry, children’s toys, auto care, sports and entertainment packages, and much more. To make the bidding even more fun, TelAuc features several celebrity auctioneers. This year’s list includes Tim Fox from News Channel 9; Megan Koskovich and Dave Dellecese from WKTV in Utica; local radio personalities Eric Cohen (WAER 88.3), Joe Galuski (WSYR 570), Melissa Midgely (Sunny 102) and Dan Tortora (The Score 1260); WCNY Classic FM’s Bill Baker, Bill Knowlton and Jon English; WCNY’s Susan Arbetter (host of “The Capitol Pressroom” on radio and “The Capitol Report” on TV); and WCNY television personalities.
TelAuc is usually held in late April. Last year, WCNY moved TelAuc to early June because the Easter holiday and spring break were in late April. TelAuc is back in its usual time slot this year, giving WCNY members a chance to get a head start on their spring and summer to-do lists.
