WCNY’s National Cooking Show ‘Spatchcock Funk’ Returns for Season 2 on March 25

WCNY, Central New York’s public communications organization, is excited to announce the return of its locally produced cooking show, “Spatchcock Funk,” with Season 2 premiering March 25 at 9 p.m. on WCNY-TV—airing in more than 50 U.S. markets, from Los Angeles to Miami.

Hosted by Matt Read, “Spatchcock Funk” delivers easy-to-follow recipes, craft cocktails, and expert party-planning tips—all with a signature mix of fun and authenticity.

This season, the Spatchcock Funk crew raises the “steaks” on their culinary and partying adventures. From tailgates to backyard gatherings, they bring big flavors and even bigger energy to every episode. You bring your friends—they’ll bring everything else.

The season kicks off at Beak & Skiff’s Airbnb and Distillery, then flows into a wild riverside celebration with West Canada Creek Tubing Company. From a French-inspired feast at Oh My Darling to a golf course bash at Canandaigua Country Club, every episode is packed with flavor and fun. Expect Derby Day flair with Syracuse Honey, farm-fresh creations at Heritage Hill and Elly’s Acres Farm, and a special stop at Acropolis Realty Group. The party ramps up at Highmark Stadium for a Buffalo Bills game before closing with a Voodoo Masquerade at the historic Landmark Theatre.

“Season 2 of ‘Spatchcock Funk’ takes the energy, flavor, and fun to the next level,” said Mitch Gelman, president and CEO of WCNY. “This season showcases incredible locations, bold recipes, and the unique storytelling that makes the show stand out. We’re proud to bring this series to audiences across the country as part of the PBS family of great cooking programs.”

“Seeing our friend group and show being watched in 50 cities across the country is surreal. We are so happy that people from all sorts of ages and locations feel that real connection with the stories we’re telling,” said Alex DeRosa, producer and co-founder of Spatchcock Funk.

Host and co-founder Matt Read added, “We’re building this community, from Syracuse to Oklahoma to California, and we love that they feel like they’re part of our crew, because they are. We just want to find ways to bring people together the best way we know how—making drinks, whipping up some great food, and some good old storytelling.”

The 10-part series will air Tuesdays at 9 p.m. and Saturdays at 3:30 p.m. through the end of May on WCNY-TV. The series is sponsored by Acropolis Realty Group, American Lamb Board, APEX Entertainment, Bear Creek Restaurant, Cambareri & Brenneck, PLLC, Crouse Hospital, Feldmeier Equipment, Food Bank of CNY, Mike’s TV, Appliances & Power Equipment, Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists, Vince’s Gourmet Imports, and Visit Syracuse.
