WCNY, Central New York’s PBS station, will host a special preview screening of the first episode of the upcoming third season of the popular BBC drama “Downton Abbey” at 4 p.m. Dec. 16 at The Red House Arts Center, located at 201 South West St. in Syracuse.
The special screening comes ahead of the show’s debut on WCNY and other PBS stations Jan. 6. New episodes air Sunday nights at 9 p.m. as part of “Masterpiece Classics” on WCNY channel 24.1.
The preview screening at the Red House is free and open to the public, but seating is limited and registration is required. To register, visit www.wcny.org/events or call (315) 453-2424.
In Season 3, The Great War is over and a long-awaited engagement is on, but all is not tranquil at Downton Abbey as wrenching social changes, romantic intrigues and personal crises grip the majestic English country estate for a third thrilling season. The show returns with its all-star cast plus guest star Academy Award-winning actress Shirley MacLaine.
To help satisfy the passion “Downton Abbey” fans have for the show, WCNY will present a marathon of Season 1 from noon to 6 p.m. Nov. 25 on WCNY channel 24.1. That will be followed in December with each episode of Season 2 airing at 9 p.m. Sundays on WCNY channels 24.1 and 24.4.
