WCNY to Host Live Debate for New York’s 22nd Congressional District

WCNY, Central New York’s public communications organization, will host a live debate for New York’s 22nd Congressional District between incumbent Republican Brandon Williams and Democratic challenger John Mannion on Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 8 p.m. on WCNY-TV.
The debate will be moderated by David Lombardo of WCNY’s public affairs shows, “The Capitol Pressroom” and “CONNECT: NY.”
The closely contested race for the 22nd Congressional District has garnered national attention, as its winner could help determine which party controls the House of Representatives in 2025. Following a court-ordered redistricting in 2022, Republican Brandon Williams narrowly defeated Democrat Francis Conole. In 2024, the legislative boundaries were redrawn again, shifting the electorate slightly more Democratic.
The 22nd District includes Madison and Onondaga counties, along with portions of Cayuga, Cortland, and Oneida counties. The upcoming debate is expected to address issues specific to Central New York, as well as broader domestic topics, including Social Security, Medicare, border security, immigration, and abortion.
The debate will air live on Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 8 p.m. on WCNY-TV. It will also be available for live streaming at pbs.org/livestream. For viewing information, visit wcny.org/wheretowatch.
