WCNY Hosting Two Events for Young Children May 5

WCNY-TV/FM, Central New York’s public broadcasting station, is hosting two events for young children on Saturday, May 5: A “PBS Parents + Kids = Learning” workshop at WCNY, and an appearance by Clifford the Big Red Dog at The Shops at Ithaca Mall.

PBS Parents + Kids = Learning
The interactive workshop for parents, grandparents and children ages 3 to 7 will run from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 5, at WCNY, 506 Old Liverpool Road, Liverpool. The adults and children will work together on activities that will help them learn how PBS television shows and online educational games and videos serve as vital teaching tools.

Clifford Visits The Shops at Ithaca Mall
Clifford the Big Red Dog, the star of the WCNY-TV animated children’s series, will greet children from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 5, at The Shops at Ithaca Mall in Ithaca. A similar appearance March 3 in Ithaca attracted hundreds of children who wanted to meet their favorite TV character.
Children can meet Clifford May 5 and receive free Clifford stickers and activity sheets. Parents can also receive information about WCNY’s move to a new facility in downtown Syracuse and learn how they can help Clifford “build a new doghouse.” For a small donation, children can have their picture taken with Clifford and WCNY will email the keepsake photograph.
Clifford’s visit to Ithaca is part of his mall tour that will also include stops at Sangertown Square in New Hartford (May 19) and Great Northern Mall in Clay (June 2).
“Clifford the Big Red Dog,” which is currently airing at 2 p.m. Monday through Friday on WCNY channel 24.1, is moving to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday on 24.1 starting Monday, May 7. “Clifford” will continue to air at 9 a.m. Sundays on 24.1.
