WCNY Classic FM Presents Bill Knowlton’s 49th Bluegrass Ramble Picnic

WCNY Classic FM, Central and Northern New York’s community-owned public broadcaster, presents Bill Knowlton’s 49th Bluegrass Ramble Picnic, the oldest bluegrass and old-time country music event in New York and New England. Bill Knowlton, co-producer and emcee of the picnic, is an internationally recognized broadcast personality and longtime host of WCNY’s “Bluegrass Ramble” radio show on Sunday nights since 1973. The event takes place at Dwyer Memorial Park in Little York, Sunday, Aug. 7 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and is free to the public.
Attendees will enjoy live music from 17 bluegrass and old-time bluegrass bands coming from far and wide, donating their musical services free of charge. Food, CDs, and other bluegrass souvenirs will be available for purchase. Attendees will also be invited to take part in a raffle for a brand-new guitar, donated by Ithaca Guitar Works.
Bill Knowlton recommends picnic-goers bring their own lawn chairs and blankets, as well as a camera to capture the day. If unwelcome rain arrives, there will be a large tent setup by the Cortland Repertory Theatre, along the north shore of Little York Lake, to keep dry.
