The 46ers Premiere Party
By Nico Basile
On Nov. 8 from 5-7 p.m. ,WCNY will be hosting a Premiere Party for The 46ers. The documentary captures those who create life experiences from scaling the 46 Adirondack Mountain High Peaks in New York state. Men and women who are part of the Adirondack 46ers club will be introduced and the impact of their experiences will be told. Being a member of this club involves being a part of a group that supports hiking high peaks both in the winter and the summer in various locations.
Stories shared from the documentary include the tales of multiple individuals who set out to move through the mountains at both gentle and intense paces. These experiences create memories that last a lifetime and translate to each individuals overall success as a person. Director Blake Cortright drew inspiration for the making of the film based off of the individuals perseverance in attempting these journeys regardless of the life threatening risk of climbing such heights. The film will document the travels of individuals going through 19 different High Peaks highlighting the positive and negatives that come with the experience. Some of these individuals have climbed the highest peaks in New York State up to 700 times.
The event will begin with a welcome and light hors d’oeuvres served from 5-5:30 p.m. , followed by a Q&A and meeting the producers from 5:30-6 p.m. Finally The 46ers premiere will take place at 6 p.m. Tickets are $20 for WCNY members and $25 for non-members. RSVP will be open until Nov. 5 and can be done on the WCNY website at wcny.org/events or by calling (315) 453-2424. We are expecting a lot of people to attend so please do not forget to RSVP.
