North Words: 92 Years in the North Country

On the latest edition of North Words, 92-year-old Harry Mitchell reflects on an interesting life. The Croghan native shares his stories of growing up with a power plant – literally – in his backyard, and talks about his one move away from the North Country, as he fought in the Korean War. Plus, photographer Paris Escandón discusses the portraits he took of a sometimes invisible population in his adopted city of Brockville, Ontario – the city’s at-risk people. They are almost literally invisible to him, as Escandón is legally blind.

From North Creek to South Colton, from Old Forge to New Bremen, North Words host Mitch Teich brings you interviews, on-site recordings, and special features that remind us what makes the North Country region so special. WCNY Community FM is pleased to present this monthly show from our colleagues at North Country Public Radio.
