More than 1,000 people attended the Humane Association of Central New York’s Drop-A-Thon, Silent Auction and Open House Sept. 22. A variety of items were donated at the event – the first in WCNY’s “Won’t You Help a Neighbor?” campaign to help local causes – including laundry detergent, cat litter, canned cat and dog food, toys, dog bones, gently used towels, blankets and comforters.
Guests also had the opportunity to bid on more than 200 silent auction items. Cash donations totaled nearly $13,000.
“We are so thankful to the Central New York community for their generosity and love of animals,” said Bethann Kistner, Humane Association of Central New York board of directors member and fundraising chair. “It is our job to keep our shelter pets as happy and comfortable as possible until they are adopted into a home. We couldn’t do it without the community.”
