In pre-revolutionary Russia, a poor Jewish peasant, Tevya, must contend with marrying off his three daughters while antisemitic sentiment threatens his home.
His headstrong daughters decide that they want to marry for love rather than accept whatever Yente the matchmaker comes up with.
