WCNY ‘Ivory Tower’ moderator David Rubin to retire in December
WCNY’s weekly public affairs TV program “Ivory Tower” will say goodbye to its long-time moderator, David Rubin. Rubin is also Dean and Professor Emeritus of Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.
“Ivory Tower” is WCNY’s weekly round-table discussion TV program that focuses on news and events from the diverse perspectives of faculty from colleges and universities across Central New York.
Rubin will moderate his last show in an episode that airs Friday, Dec. 30 at 8 p.m. The program will be recorded before a live audience Dec. 16 at 9 a.m.
“Ivory Tower” debuted on WCNY in 2002 with Rubin as its moderator. The show’s other panelists include Kristi Andersen, the Chapple Family Professor of Citizenship and Democracy at Syracuse University’s Maxwell School, Tim Byrnes, Charles A. Dana Professor of Political Science at Colgate University, Lisa Dolak, the Angela S. Cooney Professor of Law at the Syracuse University College of Law, Barbara Fought, Associate Professor of Broadcast and Digital Journalism and Communications Law at Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, Bob Greene, the Paul J. Schupf Professor of History at Cazenovia College, Tara Ross, Professor of History at Onondaga Community College, Bob Spitzer, Distinguished Service Professor of Political Science at SUNY Cortland, and Holly Rhine, Associate Professor, Colonial American and Revolutionary America at Le Moyne College.

Rubin’s successor as moderator of “Ivory Tower “will be introduced during the program’s first episode of 2017 Friday, Jan. 6 at 8 p.m.
