New York Focus, a statewide nonprofit newsroom, recently released a report detailing the information needs of New Yorkers. Through surveys and in-person interviews, the organization found that residents are frustrated by the decline of local news and the resulting lack of transparency in government. This information gap hinders civic engagement and leaves people feeling unable to participate in their communities.
