Budget includes funding for affordable childcare

On WCNY’s The Capitol Pressroom, Senator David Carlucci, discussed wins the Independent Democratic Conference secured in the budget, including money for childcare.
“When we talk about living in New York, it’s about making it affordable,” Carlucci told Capitol Pressroom host Susan Arbetter. “I know as the parent of an eight-month-old son, that the cost of childcare is just so expensive. We fought in this budget. We were able to get an initial $33 million for the Child Subsidy Block Grant. That’s an important piece because that is going to allow for so many more families to put their children in childcare and be able to continue their career and attain a better quality life.”
The money secures 4,500 more childcares slots.
