July 18, 2024
WCNY Classic FM, Central and Northern New York’s community-owned public broadcaster, invites you to attend the 51st edition of Bill Knowlton’s Bluegrass Ramble Picnic, the oldest bluegrass concert event in New York and New England. Central New York’s “Mr. Bluegrass,” Bill Knowlton, is co-producer and emcee of the Picnic. Since 1973, Bill has hosted the “Bluegrass Ramble” radio show, Sunday nights on Classic FM.
The Bluegrass Ramble Picnic takes place at Dwyer Memorial Park in Little York, Sunday, Aug. 4 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and is free to the public. Attendees will enjoy live music from 16 bluegrass acts, all of whom donate their musical services. Jam sessions will also take place around the venue. Food will be available for purchase, but picnic-goers are also welcome to their own. Additionally, there will be a raffle featuring a brand-new guitar generously donated by Ithaca Guitar Works as the prize.
Bill recommends picnic-goers bring their own lawn chairs and plan to stay the whole day. The concert takes place under a large tent in the park.
