Our New Neighbors, Episode 8 – InterFaith Works’ Professional Pathways Program for New Americans

Central New York has become a primary location for re-settlement of immigrants and refugees from around the world. Many of them come to the U.S. with advanced degrees and high levels of training and career experience, but find themselves unable to get good job opportunities here. InterFaith Works‘ Center for New Americans operates a Professional Pathways program, intended to change that cycle. Innovate to Educate, Episode 9 – Canastota Schools Digital Badging Program

In 2020, Canastota Central Schools launched an innovative digital badging program, allowing students to drive their learning independently and develop skills in key areas, both in school and within the community. The badge is evidence that the student has mastered that competency. In this episode of Innovate to Educate, host Jody Manning speaks with Liz Garofalo, Canastota’s Coordinator of Innovative Learning, and with students Gloriana Stumpff and Harrison VanLone. WCNY Awarded ‘American Graduate: Jobs Explained’ Grant to Create Digital Videos Connecting Youth to Careers

WCNY, Central New York’s public communications organization, is one of 10 public media stations nationwide selected to create digital career-focused videos to help connect young people with potential careers in the next chapter of the American Graduate public media initiative – “American Graduate: Jobs Explained.” Led by The WNET Group and funded by a $3.2 million grant from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), “American Graduate: Jobs Explained” focuses on digital content developed by, with and for youth, and shared on social media platforms to help young people stay inspired, commit to continued education and training, and explore potential careers.
