WCNY presents ‘Downton Abbey’ Season 3 Jan. 6

WCNY, Central New York’s public broadcasting company, will present Season 3 of the popular PBS period drama “Downton Abbey” beginning at 9 p.m. Jan.6 on WCNY channel 24.1. The series will air for seven consecutive Sundays as part of “Masterpiece Classics”. WCNY will repeat the previous week’s episode before each week’s premiere at 7 or 8 p.m., depending on the length of each show. WCNY to carry Gov. Cuomo’s State of the State address Jan. 9

WCNY will provide live coverage of New York State Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s 2013 State of the State address at 1:30 p.m. Jan. 9 from the Empire State Plaza Convention Center in Albany. WCNY’s coverage of Cuomo’s address will start at 1 p.m. on channel 24.1 (PBS). Susan Arbetter, WCNY’s news and public affairs director, will be joined by political commentators before and after the address from the NYNet television studios in Albany. WCNY’s ‘Won’t You Help a Neighbor?’ campaign features CNY Reads One Book

WCNY’s “Won’t You Help a Neighbor?” campaign to support Central New York non-profits and charities this month will focus attention on “CNY Reads One Book,” a community-wide reading program in Onondaga and Cayuga counties. WCNY will air the 2013 Post-Standard/WCNY Spelling Bee live at 2 p.m. Feb. 2 on PBS (WCNY channel 24.1). WCNY has televised the event for more than 20 years.
